VA Organization Seeks Equal Housing for All

Since 1971, Housing Opportunities Made Equal (H.O.M.E.) has been Virginia’s leading housing counseling organization, which seeks to find a shelter for everyone. The Program offers programs and services to find a home for everyone in Virginia.  HOME has been setting an example for programs across the country proving its success and the impact it has had on residents of Virginia.

HOME is currently being led by six officers and is also being looked after by a board of devoted directors. Daniel Watkins, one member of the board, is a prestigious lawyer who works on white-collar crime, commercial disputes and has a strong pro bono practice.

Education
One aspect of HOME is the Center for Housing Counseling and Education (CHCE), which strives to teach individuals all that it entails to be a homeowner or a tenant by training them to learn how to manage finances, invest, and deal with foreclosure. HOME offers group classes and individual training, which will assist you with every step of the process from making a purchase to managing a home.

Home Consulting Services
HOME launched the Home Consulting Services (HCS) in 2012, which became a branch of HOME. The goal of Home Consulting Services was created as a way to help foster HOME across the country rather than just in Virginia. HCS strives to create education for fair housing and housing research throughout the whole country. HCS also concentrates on Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (Al) studies, which is an important aspect of HCS.

Programs like HOME, work to ensure a shelter for everyone through even the toughest economic battles.
